The opportunity:

Lead the recommendations of IT solutions and design for business partners, including (but not limited to) product, sales, and operations teams, in order to meet Symcor’s business goals, which include (but are not limited to) revenue growth, operational efficiency, client satisfaction, service quality and employee satisfaction.

Take on the most challenging, complex, impactful, and high visibility solutioning activities within the organization.

Act as an expert in both leading edge technology and the financial services industry to bridge the gap between business need and IT solutions, and serve as the last point of IT escalation for all business solutioning activities inclusive but not limited to: Product Ideation, Design Thinking, User Interface Design, User Experience Design, RFx Responses, Pre-Sales Support, Change Intake and Assessment, Technical Discovery, Feasibility Analysis, and IT Consulting Professional Services Engagements.

What you will do:

  • Provide solutions for the most complex, challenging, and high visibility initiatives at Symcor, including product ideation, sales support (RFx, client demos and meetings, etc.), assessment of inbound change requests, and professional consulting services, in order to successfully meet Symcor’s business objectives.
    • Leverage a variety of tools and methodologies to explore and define business problems, including (but not limited to) Design Thinking, Journey Mapping, Persona Definition, Customer Interviews, etc.
    • Present and discuss solutions with senior internal and external companies, including but not limited to, VP, SVP, and “C” level executives.
  • Act as an expert on both technology and financial services industry business matters, in order to support critical decision making and project execution at Symcor
    • Through research and collaboration, maintain awareness of leading edge technology, Symcor’s technology roadmaps and landscape, Symcor’s business and technology strategy, Symcor’s product roadmaps, the financial services industry (including trends), the business strategies of Symcor’s main clients, and awareness of Symcor’s competitors and their capabilities.
    • Participate in the design and implementation of new Symcor products
    • Conduct M&A activity/due diligence of seller technology and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Lead the development of best practices for the IT Solution Design team, including practices for the Solutions Consulting, User Interface and Experience Design, and Business Systems Analysis teams, in order to increase team effectiveness, efficiency, and internal/external client satisfaction.
  • Provide mentorship to all members of the IT Solution Design team (or others across Symcor) as required, in order to increase organizational strength in IT Solution Design disciplines, knowledge of Symcor products, services, and systems, knowledge of industry best practices, and overall organizational effectiveness.

What you need to have to succeed:

  • Minimum 10 years Consulting and Professional Services skills and experience
  • Unparalleled understanding of technologies and business practices related to financial services
  • Experience consulting on or leading digital transformation for one or more major financial institutions
  • Experience with Automation, Machine Learning, Data Analytics and Data Science
  • Awareness of disruptive events in the Canadian financial services industry, such as Payments Modernization, FinTechs, and Open Banking
  • Good knowledge of analytical techniques (Competitive & Benchmarking Analysis, Stakeholder Analysis, Cost Benefit Analysis, Gap Analysis, Feasibility Analysis, SWOT Analysis, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
